LAST CALL (ONGOING PERFORMANCE SERIES & PRIVATE COMEDY SALON)
LAST CALL happens live in Mid-City, Los Angeles, CA. Local comics perform for an intimate audience of 40 people. While some elements are rehearsed, much of the show unfolds through improvisation. Conflict and solutions emerge in real time, with staged interruptions creating unexpected scenarios for the performers to navigate. Utilizing a six-camera setup, the work captures multiple vantage points staged within the audience itself.
Kya positions herself as host, testing her own comedic license. Performers stand among the audience, dissolving the traditional elevation of the performer's physical presence. Through this setup, the artist challenges how COMEDY’S STRUCTURE CAN BE REIMAGINED. Inspired by Pearl Bailey’s Sings for Adults Only, LAST CALL is an unsponsored and unfiltered stage WITH no drink minimum. NO OUTSIDE CAMERAS ARE ALLOWED. ALTHOUGH, WORD OF MOUTH IS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED.
